Swellendam is the third oldest town in South Africa (after Cape
Town and Stellenbosch). The Drostdy was built as the seat of the
Landdrost (magistrate) in 1747. The Drostdy Museum is one of the
finest country museums in South Africa, it is actually a collection
of historic buildings arranged arround large grounds and a lovely
nineteenth-century Cape garden. A stroll around the complex will
include some of the most picturesque streets in the town.

Golf on the beautiful situated golf course
of Swellendam
At a five minutes drive from our B&B you will find the Swellendam
Golf course. Golf players will appreciate the nine-holes golf course,
beautiful situated with spectacular views of the Langeberg Mountains
an the Marloth Nature reserve. The green fees are low. This course
is in excellent condition and m uch less busy than the golf courses
at Cape Town or George and a challenge for all handicaps.
Sulina Faerie Sanctuary

Five minutes from our accommodation you will find Sulina Faerie
Sanctuary. This local attraction draws people from all over the
world. Thousands of faeries are displayed in the house and then
there are those that found shelter in the magical garden, full of
indigenous plants and herbs.
Potters
Swellendam has drawn a number of creative people who find inspiration
in the beauty of the town and surrounding area. In their studio,
you will see an impressive range of products - from cups and saucers
to enormous, decorative urns.
Visit to a Youngberry
farm in the Hermitage (on the fringe of town)

Swellendam is the largest youngberry growing area in the world.
Visit Wildebraam Liqueurs. Wildebraam is a youngberry farm situated
in the Hermitage Valley , Swellendam. In addition to farming berries,
a private cellar produces unique South African liqueurs viz. youngberry,
honey, fennel, and rooibos. Liqueurs can be sampled in the tasting
room.
